Whether it's transferring your music and movie libraries to an external location, making a photo album for the grandkids, or moving a lot of large files at work, the task of moving many files of large size can become very tedious very quickly. Happily, a new product called TeraCopy can make what was once an onerous, hope-for-the-best chore a relative snap.

Overview

TeraCopy is a Windows utility which allows for the rapid, user-friendly copy and/or transfer of large amounts of data, including single files of large size, several gigabytes worth of bundled files, or both. Read on to learn more about what it can do for you, how it works, and some of the pros and cons of using it in your daily activities.

How it works

TeraCopy couldn't be simpler to use, although it should be noted that its integrated form is superior to using it as a stand-alone application. To use TeraCopy in integrated mode, simply select the files you want to move and/or copy, right-click, and select the TeraCopy option from the menu. A window will pop up that allows you to select where you want to send the files, along with "Move", "Copy", and "Test" options. That's it! The app does the same thing, but its UI and controls are unintuitive and present an unnecessary learning curve to the user.

Pros

TeraCopy has several pros, including:

- A simple and intuitive drag-and-drop system that's very easy to learn.

- The ability to launch independently, or else to be used from within its IE9-embedded state.

- TeraCopy is much faster (and thus, less of an annoyance!) than the standard or traditional method of copying/moving files.

Cons

Overall, this program is a great addition to your computer. However, even the best programs and utilities can have flaws, and TeraCopy is no exception. They are:

- Single-System availability - that is, TeraCopy is Windows-only at present. This means that you will either need to be a dedicated PC user, or run Windows alongside your Mac or other OS using the many available utilities for that purpose.

- When independently launched in stand-alone app form, TeraCopy falls prey to its own clunky user interface & controls.

So there you have it. You know everything you need to know in order to make an informed decision about TeraCopy.

Teracopy is a program that allows Windows users to move files quicker. The program is very user friendly. The only thing you have to do is select the file you want to move or copy, right click on that file, then select the teracopy option. After selecting the teracopy option, a new window will appear that will allow users to select what they would like to do with the file. There are a variety of options available, including move, test, and copy. Another added benefit of teracopy is that the program allows users to move very large files in a more efficient way than the standard Windows options.
